About Me

Hi, I'm Joe. I’m a photographer, husband and cat dad, based in Derby, working across the UK and worldwide.

My grandmother gave me my first camera when I was little and that was pretty much that. It led me through film school, a few years shooting fashion, and eventually to wedding photography - which, honestly, I wish I'd found sooner. The first wedding I photographed I just thought that this is it. Real moments, real emotion, nothing forced. I was completely hooked.

A few things about me when I'm not working:

  • I’m obsessed with coffee - Aeropress or V60, never instant

  • Endlessly inspired by Scorsese, Nolan and Kubrick

  • Always on the lookout for a hidden gem of a film camera

  • Gin and tonic, spicy food, and a good film = perfect evening

My Approach on Your Wedding Day

I'm not one for stiff poses or interrupting the day to set something up. I'll mostly just be there in the background getting on with it, capturing things as they actually are.

I shoot on a mix of digital and analogue film throughout the day. A bit of gentle direction during couple portraits if it helps, but that's about it.

I want you to look back at your wedding photos and feel like you're right back there.

Frequently Asked

Questions

  • Relaxed and honest. I shoot in a documentary style, which means I focus on real moments as they unfold — no forced poses or fake grins. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but most of the time you’ll probably forget I’m there (in a good way).

  • Both! I use digital cameras for versatility and speed, and 35mm film for its unique, timeless quality. Film brings a softness and richness you just can’t replicate. You’ll get a mix in your final gallery.

  • There is no limit to the number of photographs taken, The final number of images can vary depending on the length of the day, number of guests, the weather, and the location. That said, for a full day of coverage, you can expect a minimum of 500 fully edited images.

  • Yes! Engagement sessions are a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and to spend a chilled hour or two together.

  • 20% deposit of your package price. This fee is non-refundable and secures your date in my calendar. The deposit will be deducted from your final balance. Your date isn't fully booked until I receive both the deposit and your completed contract.

  • It’s more than okay — it’s totally normal. Most of my couples feel this way. I don’t expect you to perform. I’ll help you feel comfortable by keeping things simple and laid-back. Think of it like hanging out, not a photoshoot.
